Fans in the Motor City grew rather accustomed the spouse of now-former Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford being rather vocal on social media in defense of her husband. And now, she’s at it again.
Kelly Stafford called out her husband’s detractors in her latest podcast, stating her belief that they try to call him out on her various social media accounts because he doesn’t have any.
“I think this is why people do it cause they can’t get to Matthew, cause he doesn’t have social media. So they come to me and they make it even worse because they’re so frustrated that they can’t get to him. I love it. Not that I love the comments, but I love they can’t get to him,” Kelly said on the latest episode of her podcast, “The Morning After with Kelly Stafford.”
“I mean, I could only imagine being a professional athlete and reading s–t that people write.”
After a hot start to the 2021 season with the Los Angeles Rams, Stafford has struggled of late, throwing a pick-six for the third straight game on Sunday night against the Green Bay Packers as he and his teammates dropped their third straight.
Kelly also put to rest the notion that Matthew is banged up, a report she states her husband was “pissed” over.
“He’s fine, everybody has injuries going on, he didn’t want that to be an excuse,” Kelly said.
“And like I’ve always said, we own up to our s—t. He owns up to not playing well, he doesn’t make excuses for it, there actually could be if he was miserable and the injury is taking over, but he’s not,” she continued.
Kelly made news earlier in November when she admitted to throwing a soft pretzel at a San Francisco 49ers fan at Levi Stadium who was calling out her husband’s on-field performance, an action for which she would issue an apology.
