Matthew Stafford has been playing in the NFL ever since he was selected by the Detroit Lions with the No. 1 overall pick of the 2009 NFL Draft. Yet prior to Sunday’s game vs. the Atlanta Falcons, Stafford had never played a single game in Georgia, where he and his wife Kelly attended college.

As you know by now, Stafford led the Lions on an epic game-winning drive as the Lions walked away with a miraculous 23-22 win.
Following the game, Kelly Stafford took to Instagram to talk share how grateful she is that she was able to go back to her old stomping grounds.
“I’m so damn glad @jimlifefitness encouraged me to go down to this game. I wasn’t planning on it, but he reminded me that this time in our lives is not forever and who knows if Matthew will ever play in the city of atlanta again. It took 12 years to get him down in the first place so who knows?!
These are just photos from the game and our tailgate.. but the whole weekend just filled my soul. I got to see my family and some of the most important people in my life that I rarely get to see.. and not only did I get to see them, but my girls did as well.
I loved every second of it.
And it was just capped by a 75 yard winning drive. #golions #staffordstrong
PS- check huntie in that first pic. She was READY”
