Kerryon Johnson “all in” on Detroit Lions drafting former Auburn teammate Derrick Brown

Auburn Tigers defensive tackle Derrick Brown is thought by many to be one of the top interior defensive linemen in his draft class, and is projected to top-10 selection in the 2020 NFL Draft.

He’s also a former teammate of Detroit Lions running back Kerryon Johnson, who would love to see Brown drafted into the Motor City and for the two to once again suit up for the same squad.

“Hey, I am all for that,” said Johnson. “He’s a good, fantastic player. I’m all for that. I just want as many Auburn guys on the team that we can have.”

Apparently, things didn’t exactly get off to the greatest start between the two now-friends. Johnson admits he used to tease Brown for his weight, but quickly changed his tune.

“Me and Derrick used to hate each other, believe it or not,” Johnson said. “I was pretty rude to Derrick when he first got there. Called him ‘Brownie’ because he was all baby fat and just soft as (crap).”

Soon, Johnson realized that Brown “wasn’t fat, he was strong and I’m like I shouldn’t mess with him cause he might beat me up one day.”

The 6’5, 318 lb. Brown recorded 11 tackles during his first year with the Tigers, but soon began racking up big numbers. He put up 57 tackles during his next season, and has amassed 31.5 tackles for loss over his last three years. In 11 games this year, Brown has four sacks and has forced two fumbles.

In his career, he’s recorded 165 tackles, 12 sacks, five forced fumbles, and deflected eight passes.

Would it be a good idea for the Lions to consider Johnson’s friend from Auburn?
