Klay Thompson, Draymond Green disrespect Pistons’ G Rodney McGruder following game

Unfortunately, things didn’t go the Detroit Pistons‘ way last night against the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center.

Golden State took it to Detroit, winning by a 118-91 final score. However, it was what happened after the game that had people talking.

Warriors star Klay Thompson, who is missing his second straight season thanks to an Achilles injury, heaped verbal insults on Pistons guard Rodney McGruder, who went to have words with Warriors rookie Juan Toscano-Anderson after the final buzzer over something the rookie said to Wayne Ellington during the game.

Thompson, who was joining the Warriors TV crew for the game, gave it to McGruder on the live broadcast as events were unfolding.

“I don’t know, this dude might be out the league soon, he’s probably made about that, who knows,” Thompson said. “He’s over here trying to start something like he’s a good player. Get out of here.”

And the fireworks didn’t stop there.

Former Michigan State Spartan Draymond Green sounded off on the situation in his post-game remarks, questioning McGruder’s toughness while also echoing what his injured teammate said.

“He was taking up for Wayne Ellington,” Green said of McGruder. “When the (expletive) did Rodney McGruder become a tough guy of the team?

“Also, I think it was something that Juan said in the first or second quarter to Wayne Ellington,” Green said.

“Too many tough guys in this league. But I know ain’t nobody scared of no Rodney McGruder.”

“But Klay said it best.”

The Pistons will have to wait until next season to exact some revenge on Golden State, who won’t be traveling to the Motor City this year. They’ll be looking to get back into the win column when they pay a visit to Ball Arena in Denver for a matchup with the Nuggets on Monday night.
