A bevy of Toronto Maple Leafs fans took to social media to complain that the penalty to defenseman Jake Muzzin for his dirty slew-foot of forward Anthony Mantha that resulted in the latter smacking his head on the ice cost their team a shutout victory.
Warning – massive hills of salt ahead:

Really great that Michael Hutchinson loses a chance at a shutout because of what basically amounts to "two minutes for defending yourself too strongly" to Jake Muzzin.
The whole police system is nonsense. Nothing that's happened since the Muzzin hit should've happened.

All because Muzzin had a good clean hit and then defends himself when Mantha is the one who challenged him to a fight. How Muzzin came out of that with a double minor is beyond me. Refs being heros and cost Hutch the shutout. Are we even surprised anymore by the reffing?

I felt bad that Hutchinson didn't get the shutout (especially because it came on a late power play that I didn't think should have been called – not sure at all why Muzzin got an extra two) but a win by a #Leafs backup goalie is worth celebrating – shutout or not! #NHL

Muzzin hits a guy, Mantha goes after Muzzin and gets wrecked because he is trying to fight Muzzin. Muzzin gets a roughing penalty and an unsportsmanlike. Redwings score and ruin the shutout.
