Leafs’ Kadri to have hearing after hit on Glendening [UPDATED]

UPDATE: The NHL Department of Player safety announced today that Kadri was assessed a 4-game suspension for his hit on Glendening. This means he’ll sit out the Leafs’ remaining 4 games in their season with no carryover into next season.

Original story: Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Monday after he cross-checked Detroit Red Wings forward Luke Glendening in their game on Saturday night.

You can see the play below:

Glendening went to the locker room after the play but would return to the game, and doesn’t appear to have suffered an injury.

Kadri was suspended 4 games last season for an illegal hit to the head, so he is considered a repeat offender. He was also fined $5,000 for diving just hours before the Maple Leafs Saturday night tilt with the Red Wings.
