After a fair amount of uncertainty as to who would be put on the physically unable to perform list, we now know the answers. Joique Bell, Jason Jones, and LaAdrian Waddle have all been placed on the PUP list.
Bell, who had operations on his knee and Achilles tendon this offseason, and missed all organized team workouts in the Spring. He is expected to start at running back, but rookie Ameer Abdullah will be closely pursuing Bell for the starting spot.
Waddle, who tore the ACL in his right knee during Week 15, is still recovering from surgery. Cornelius Lucas will be taking Waddle’s place in training camp.
Jones seems to be the least likely to miss any extended time of the bunch. He is still recovering from a knee scope that he had in June. He is expected to make his way out on to the field in the next few days.
If a player is placed on the PUP list, they are eligible to come off at any point during the preseason. However, if they are still on the list when the season begins, they are require to sit out for at least the first six games of the season.
