The Detroit Lions didn’t just beat the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football; they owned the moment afterward. In a fired-up locker room celebration, head coach Dan Campbell stressed just how important it was to play complementary football against a team as talented and physical as Baltimore.
With the room buzzing, Campbell handed out two game balls. The first went to David Montgomery, fresh off a career night with 151 rushing yards and two touchdowns. The second was awarded to defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad, who delivered a breakout performance with 4 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 3 QB hits, and 2 tackles for loss.
Muhammad’s postgame speech hit everyone in the room. “I want to thank every player, every coach, everybody that’s in this organization,” he said, voice breaking with emotion. “Because about a year ago, I was home, I was on the couch. So when you get an opportunity, you make sure you take advantage of it.”
“I want to also thank the guys in my room for helping me out this week,” Muhammad added. “Without them, I wouldn’t have been able to do what I did tonight.”
