Lions look to overcome injury bug in Minnesota, Tate/Prater hope to make impact

Lions_game6

The Lions enter week 6 with their first NFC North road contest of the season as they travel to Minnesota to face the 2-3 Vikings.

The lions are coming off of a narrow loss to the Buffalo Bills in week 5, while the Vikings lost to Green Bay. Looking at the history of this rivalry,  the Vikings own the All-time series edge at 69-34-2, as the teams split last season’s series.

In the 2013 season opener, RB Reggie Bush made his Lions debut in style as he helped the Lions to a 34-24 victory over Minnesota and collected 90 yards rushing and 101 yards recieving. He became just the 3rd player in Lions history with 90+ yards rushing and 100+ yards recieving in a single game. (Billy Sims: 119 yds rush, 103 yds Rec at LA Rams 9/19/82; Barry Sanders: 90 yds Rush, 135 yds Rec at KC 10/14/90)

Bush may not have the opportunity to match his performance this week however, as he is listed as questionable on the teams injury report.

K Matt Prater makes his season debut with the Lions, looking to pull the team out of the kicking rut they have found themselves in this season. Prater will mark the third starting Kicker for the Lions this year, after releasing rookie Nate Freese and veteran Alex Henery following disastrous starts by both.

With Calvin Johnson likely out due to a high ankle sprain, look for Golden Tate to once again act as the featured receiver for the Lions. Tate has come up big for the Lions in the last 3 weeks, and we expect him to rise to the challenge this week against the vikings 11th ranked Pass defense.
