If it feels like everyone is watching the Detroit Lions these days… it’s because they are. And now we’ve got the numbers to prove it.
Amazon announced that last Thursday night’s Lions–Cowboys showdown on Prime Video delivered an average of 19.39 million viewers, making it the most-watched regular-season Thursday Night Football game since Amazon took over TNF rights in 2022.
Yep, Dan Campbell’s crew just broke Amazon’s all-time TNF viewership record!

Detroit continues to be must-see TV
The Lions have become one of the NFL’s biggest draws, and the country clearly wanted to see how Detroit would respond after a rocky stretch. Instead of folding, the Lions put on a primetime show and walked out of Ford Field with a 44–30 win, keeping their playoff hopes alive and avoiding back-to-back losses for the first time since 2022.
Fans tuned in, and stayed tuned in, to watch Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jared Goff, and Jahmyr Gibbs put on a December clinic while the defense delivered timely plays.
Record shattered by nearly 2 million viewers
To put the new viewership mark in perspective:
- New record: 19.39 million
- Previous record: 17.76 million
- Difference: A massive 9.18% bump
That previous high came from the Sept. 11 Commanders–Packers matchup to open the 2025 season. But when the Lions show up in primetime, everything goes up: storylines, energy, ratings, and apparently Amazon’s internal celebrations.
On deck: A trip to Hollywood
The Lions now turn their attention to Week 15, where they’ll travel to Los Angeles for a marquee showdown with Matthew Stafford and the NFC West–leading Rams. With Detroit surging and Stafford thriving, it’s shaping up to be another national draw.
Don’t be surprised if the Lions break another viewership milestone before the season’s over. America can’t stop watching this team, and honestly, who can blame them?
