Per Detroit Free Press report, the Detroit Lions have signed 11 players to reserve/futures deals.
Practice-squad fullback Emil Igwenagu, linebacker Jerrell Harris, safety Nate Ness, tight end Jordan Thompson, receivers Skye Dawson and Andrew Peacock and defensive tackles Xavier Proctor and Roy Philon all re-signed with the Lions today.
The team also confirmed the signings of offensive linemen Taylor Boggs and Braxston Cave, and defensive end Kerry Hyder, which either the player or their agent previously announced on Twitter.
Reserve/futures contracts are intended to be used as a means of signing players for the next season prior to the official end of the current NFL football season. Only players who were not on an NFL’s active roster near the end of the current season are eligible to sign reserve/futures deals.
The Lions are also reportedly on the verge of signing former National Rugby League star Jarryd Hayne. A hang-up with Hayne’s visa seems to be the lone hurdle left to leap. Hayne will be expected to play running back in the NFL.
