Below is a list of the recent signings by the Detroit Lions.
TE Preston Dial is the notable signing from the undrafted FA list. 6-3 / 237lbs, in 2010 he caught 25 passes for 264 yards and three touchdowns … averaged 10.6 yards per catch and 20.3 yards per game and played an integral role in the run, acting as Lead blocker for Alabama’s rushing duo. He is considered an excellent blocker with good hands and versatility.
Notably missing from this list is big man DT Nick Fairley – Watch for that signing soon.
According to Det News:
“I don’t really know what to expect,” he said of the NFL. “I just have to get in and hopefully things go my way.”
Fairley, however, can’t take the field for Friday’s first practice without a contract, something he said the Lions and his agent, Brian Overstreet, are working hard to get done.
“I’m leaving all that up to my agent, but I’m sure they’re going to get it done real fast whenever the time comes,” Fairley said. “I just can’t wait to get started. I feel like it will be done.”
If it isn’t, it’ll cost Fairley and other rookies $30,000 per day, the league mandated fine for rookie holdouts.
