If you have read the work of Detroit Free Press beat writer Carlos Monarrez, you probably understand that he is all about triggering a strong reaction rather than actually reporting the news or giving an honest opinion. (Well, I hope some of his opinions are not him being honest!)
Monarrez was at it again on Saturday morning as he decided to take another shot at Matthew Stafford while writing a piece that had nothing to do with Matthew Stafford.
While talking about the Lions probably not taking a QB when they are on the clock with the No. 7 overall pick (which I agree with) he took another shot at Stafford.
From Detroit Free Press:
Of course there’s a ton of value in picking a quarterback at No. 7 and it might not hurt Holmes to advertise his interest in one a little more. But at this point I would be very surprise if the Lions drafted Trey Lance or Justin Fields or Mac Jones if they fell to No. 7.
Don’t get me wrong. I would love an honest-to-goodness quarterback competition after 12 years of Matthew Stafford being on a Ford Family scholarship? Yes, please.
Ok, Carlos, we get it.
Carlos Monarrez is not a sports journalist. I used to watch Dave Birkett do his pod cast but as soon as lazy Carlos showed up, I turned it off. I think the Lions and other major sports writers such as yourself are on to him hence he never gets invited to the press conferences. Carlos is a loser in life and not just in his writing. My belief is his hate in writing is due to his personal life. I can’t imagine waking up with his attitude. Thank you for pointing out Carlos for the rest of us. I do enjoy your articles. I will leave you with this “Life has been beating Carlos’s a** since the day the doctor slapped it”.
Carlos should be a Mexican waiter lmao
A totally unnecessary comment. What are your credentials to evaluate quarterbacks Carlos? The rest of the NFL sure does not agree with you. Open your eyes — the Lions had zero running game forever, poor OL play until recently and poor defense. It takes more than one player to win Carlos. Name one QB who was sacked as often, had no run game or defense, and is on a winning top team. Right, there is none.
