Tony Paul projects Detroit Tigers to sign free agent SS Freddy Galvis

The Detroit Tigers are in the middle of a full-blown rebuild which means the offseason likely will not be too exciting for the fans. Big-name free agents like Manny Machado, Bryce Harper, and Dallas Keuchel will be signing with teams other than Detroit but that does not mean the Tigers will be sitting on the sidelines when it comes to free agency.

With Jose Iglesias moving on, as he indicated he would be doing on Instagram, the Tigers will need a new starting shortstop. Looking up and down the Tigers organizational roster, that shortstop is nowhere to be found, which mean signing a free agent will be in order.

According to a projection from Tony Paul of The Detroit News, the Tigers will sign free agent shortstop, Freddy Galvis. Galvis, who hit .248 with 13 home runs and 67 RBIs with the San Diego Padres in 2018, is a 28-year-old shortstop who has never hit much but has proven formidable at shortstop.

Paul projects the Tigers will sign Galvis to a 2-year, $15 million deal.

Nation, would this be a good signing by the Tigers? If not, what direction should they go?

LOOK: The Detroit News uses headline to troll Lions’ Matt Patricia

The past week has been an interesting one for the Detroit Lions and it all ended on Sunday with a lackluster performance on the road against the Minnesota Vikings.

One of the big headlines this week, rather than talking about the football team, instead focused on an incident that happened during a Matt Patricia press conference.

During that presser, Patricia had an exchange with a reporter that left many media members feeling insulted.

In case you missed it, here was how the back-and-forth went.

Reporter: “Why do you think this move makes your franchise better?”

Patricia: “Ah, well, you know. Do me a favor just kinda sit up, just like, have a little respect for the process. Every day you come and ask me questions and you’re just kinda like you know, ‘gimme this.’ “

Reporter: “I’m sitting …”

Patricia: “I’m asking just to be a little respectful in this whole process.”

Reporter: “Okay, that’s fine.”

Patricia: “So ask me a question professionally and I’ll answer it for you.”

Patricia then went on to answer the question.
