Former Tigers coach Omar Vizquel lands managerial job
For the past four seasons, 11-time Gold Glove winner Omar Vizquel served as the first base coach for the Detroit Tigers. When Tigers GM Al Avila announced that Brad Ausmus would not return as manager in 2018, Vizquel was one of the options to take his place.
Though Vizquel did get an interview for the Tigers managerial vacancy, Avila decided that former Minnesota Twins skipper Ron Gardenhire was the best candidate.

Justin Verlander and Kate Upton reveal secret on Jimmy Fallon Show
Heading into the 2017 Major League Baseball season, Justin Verlander‘s goal, like any other year, was to win the World Series. Well, that’s exactly what he accomplished, except it was not with the team he started the season with.
With the Detroit Tigers out of the playoff hunt, they decided to try and trade Verlander to a contender before the MLB trade deadline. The only problem was that JV had a full no-trade clause in his contract which meant he could veto any potential deal the Tigers wanted to make unless he signed off. 40 minutes before the stroke of midnight, Verlander agreed to be dealt to the Houston Astros for a trio of minor league prospects.
