The Detroit Lions are holding three days of OTAs this week and one player who has not been and will not be in attendance is Pro Bowl cornerback, Darius Slay.

It has been reported that Slay is hoping to get a new deal with the Lions as soon as possible and that may have something to do with why he is not attending the voluntary workouts.
As Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press notes below, Slay still has 2 years left on his current contract worth $22 million in base salary, which is below many other cornerbacks in the NFL.

One reply to Birkett’s tweet said Slay should honor his current contract or “he’s no man at all.”
Well, as you can see, Slay caught wind of the tweet and fired back with the perfect response.
“They don’t keep their words when they cut us while we in our contracts…” Slay tweeted.

Slay is 100% correct with his response. NFL teams will drop a player on a dime if they feel they can no longer produce, a player should be able to demand more money if they feel they are worth it.
Slay is worth it.
