The final preseason game is in the books and with the NFL regular season coming fast, the Detroit Lions are working on trimming their roster down to 53. That roster sat at 87 heading into Friday but by the day was over, it was down to 74.

This afternoon, the Lions waived nine players and released three more.

Here are the nine who were waived:

WR Brian Brown

DT Josh Fatu

TE Marcus Lucas

T Jamar McGloster

LB Chad Meredith

G John Montelus

WR Teo Redding

DT Christian Ringo

DE Jeremiah Valoaga

The three vested veterans who were released are as follows:

DE Cam Johnson

CB Dexter McDougle

CB Sterling Moore

Lions’ GM Bob Quinn now has until 4 p.m. on Saturday to trim 21 more players, which would put the team at the 53 limit.
