LOOK: Detroit Red Wings to wear special patch tonight vs. Maple Leafs

Friday night will be a special one at Little Caesars Arena in Downtown Detroit as the Detroit Red Wings will be retiring the No. 4 jersey of Red Kelly.

During the game, the Wings will be wearing a special patch on their sweaters, honoring Kelly.

Leonard “Red” Kelly spent parts of 13 seasons with the Red Wings, winning four Stanley Cups, earning three Lady Byng Trophies and claiming the Norris Trophy in 1954. Kelly also led the Maple Leafs to four Stanley Cups and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1969, in addition to being named one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players in conjunction with the league’s celebration of its 100^th anniversary in 2016-17.

Kelly’s No. 4 becomes the Red Wings’ eighth retired number in franchise history, joining Sid Abel (No. 12), Alex Delvecchio (No. 10), Gordie Howe (No. 9), Nicklas Lidstrom (No. 5), Ted Lindsay (No. 7), Terry Sawchuk (No. 1) and Steve Yzerman (No. 19).

What better time than to write up my first full Detroit Lions 2019 NFL Mock Draft?

Let me begin by saying these mock drafts are extremely fluid as free agency will play a huge role in what direction Lions’ GM Bob Quinn decides to go in the NFL Draft.

For example, I personally believe that acquiring an edge rusher should be the number one priority this offseason and I would have to believe that Quinn agrees with that. But if he goes out and signs a big name DE such as Trey Flowers out of New England (yes, please!), the chances of the Lions drafting an edge rusher with their No. 8 pick in the first round would drop, though it is still possible.

This volume of my full Detroit Lions mock draft focusses on what the current needs are at this moment in time as if not a single free agent is signed.
