LOOK: Ford Field to undergo huge renovations for 2017 season

Come the 2017 NFL season, the Detroit Lions will be undergoing numerous changes, top to bottom. We know that the team will be unveiling new uniforms prior to the 2017 NFL Draft after making a subtle tweak to their current logo.

We also learned on Wednesday that the team officially announced renovations will be made to Ford Field, a project that will cost $100 million.

“After 15 years, we still hear what a great venue Ford Field is from our fans, visiting teams and the great acts that have performed here,” said Detroit Lions Team President Rod Wood in a news release. “The Ford Family is making a substantial investment to make sure our stadium remains among the best, but ultimately it’s still about winning football games. We want to get fans in the building having a great time and excited about what they’re experiencing so that they can continue to help us create a home field advantage.”

There will be wholesale changes all throughout Ford Field. Among the more notable ones include video boards that will double in size, new and improved surround sound systems, updated and modernized lounge and suite areas, and re-branding of The Corner Lounge. The renovations, according to Wood, are said to feature numerous aspects of the Lions' former venues, Briggs Stadium (formerly Tiger Stadium) and the Silverdome.

The ultimate hope is not not only improve overall fan experience at Ford Field, but also potentially bring the Super Bowl back to the Motor City.
