We already knew that former Detroit Tigers greats Jack Morris and Alan Trammell finally got the nod into the Baseball Hall of Fame but on Wednesday, they were joined by four more inductees.

Joining Morris and Trammell in Cooperstown for Hall of Fame Weekend on July 27-30 will be Vladimir Guerrero, Trevor Hoffman, Chipper Jones, and Jim Thome.

Upon hearing the news, former Tiger (sad face) Justin Verlander hopped on Twitter to tweet his congratulations to the newest inductees.

Verlander gave props to Guerrero, Jones, and Hoffman but it was his message for Jim Thome that was absolute perfection.

Though Thome only batted .269 against Verlander in his career, he was able to hit seven home runs in just 52 at-bats.

After Carlos Santana hit a home run off Verlander in April of 2017, he passed Thome for the most career home runs against the former American League Most Valuable Player. Following that game, JV compared Santana to Thome.

“Pretty similar,” Verlander said. “I either strike him out or get weak contact or he hits a bomb. It’s pretty similar to Thome.”

Though Thome did hit seven bombs off Verlander in his Hall of Fame career, four of those home runs came when JV was a rookie with the Tigers in 2006. After beating up on JV during that season, Thome only managed three more home runs of the former Tiger during his career.

In his career, Thome batted .276 with 612 home runs and 1699 RBIs in 22 seasons. When you look at those eye-popping numbers, there really is no reason for Verlander to feel too bad.
