University of Michigan basketball fans are still stunned at the news of head coach John Beilein making the leap to the NBA and accepting a five-year contract from the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Naturally, there’s going to be a range of reactions to the news. Take a look at some of these Michigan fan reactions to Beilein’s departure to the NBA.
But Cleveland? Ohio? For Dan Gilbert? Oof. This one is going to hurt for a while.
As for replacements, I have no idea. I think Michigan has to do everything it can to keep Luke Yaklich and his defensive philosophy as a key part of this program. In what capacity, I don’t know.

John Beilein going to the NBA is a loss for college basketball. Such a classy coach who ran a clean program. Gonna miss competing against him in the Big Ten. Wish him the best

I don’t even know how to begin to process this. I’ve never been more blindsided by a sports move in my life.
I’ll be spending today going through the five stages of grief — and probably inventing a few new stages in the process — but some initial thoughts:

That surgery that Beilein had to fix his heart.
Gonna need one of those pic.twitter.com/TQpB0Z2K3h

He’s a liar. He withdrew his name from the Pistons job last year and said he wanted his career to end at Michigan. Lost all respect for him.

one thing about beilein is he's clearly demonstrated his willingness to adapt. managing an nba locker room will be interesting to watch. but he can coach his ass off. no debating that.

Hey John Beilein, how are you going to prevent Michigan from losing to Michigan State for a fourth straight time?

While I'm so sad to see him go, it's always exciting to witness someone taking an opportunity they have been working toward their entire career.
Best of luck, Coach Beilein. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING, and we can't wait to see what your NBA future has in store for you!
