Since 1879, the University of Michigan has had a football team.
Fast forward 140 years to the 2019 season and Michigan has never opened a season with night game in Ann Arbor.

But for the first time in school history, the Wolverines will open at season at home, under the lights.
That’s right, on Saturday, August 31, Michigan will host Middle Tennessee State at 7:30 p.m. at the Big House in Ann Arbor.
Michigan is coming off a season which saw them finish 10-3 after suffering losses in their final two games to Ohio State and Florida (Peach Bowl) and you can bet they will be looking for revenge (yes, I said it) in 2019.
Middle Tennessee State went 8-6 in 2019, including a 45-13 loss to Appalachian State in the New Orleans Bowl.
