Webb is reporting that current Texas head coach Shaka Smart is “absolutely on the radar” for Wolverines’ athletic director, Warde Manuel.

From The Michigan Insider:

Multiple sources have told The Michigan Insider Smart is absolutely on radar. There are several connections that could all have played a role in putting him there. That includes a couple of very strong ones that I’ll talk about here. First, Smart was on the same Clemson staff with Michigan’s head strength & conditioning coach Jon Sanderson for three years. Second, Smart attended Kenyon College where he was the roommate of the son of former Michigan athletic director Bill Martin. Needless to say, the Maize & Blue brass can get a very strong feel for who Smart is as a person and as a colleague.

Before taking the job at Texas in 2015, Smart was head coach at VCU, where he led the Rams to the Final Four in 2011.
