Jim Harbaugh

Ever since the day Jim Harbaugh was hired as head coach of the Michigan Wolverines, there have been constant rumors about him leaving his alma mater to return to the NFL.

Granted, it seems that most of those rumors have been started by Harbaugh haters, but considering he never won a Super Bowl as a head coach, there is always that small chance that he wants once more shot at winning on the biggest stage in the world.

Despite the speculation that he could be planning to jump ship, Harbaugh has either said that he has no plans to leave the Wolverines or he has ignored the questions altogether.

Now that the chances of Michigan winning the Big Ten are all but lost for this season, at least one sportsbook has listed odds that Harbaugh DOES NOT return to the Wolverines for the 2018 season. On Wednesday, Sports Betting Dime released their odds on coaches that will not start the 2018 season with their current team and Harbaugh cracked the list.

From SportsBettingDime.com:

Odds the following coaches do not start 2018 with their current team

  • Butch Jones (Tennessee): 1/9
  • Bret Bielema (Arkansas): 2/1
  • Mike Riley (Nebraska): 2/3
  • Jim Mora (UCLA): 1/1
  • David Beaty (Kansas): 1/1
  • Kevin Sumlin (Texas A&M): 3/2
  • Lovie Smith (Illinois): 8/1
  • Gus Malzahn (Auburn): 10/1
  • Jim Harbaugh (Michigan): 12/1

As you can see, if you happen to believe that Harbaugh will leave the Michigan Wolverines following the 2017 season, you can get 12/1 odds. That, of course, means that if you were to bet $100 dollars, you would win $1200. It’s no surprise whatsoever that Tennessee head coach Butch Jones leads the way with 1/9 odds.

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:

There is no question in my mind that despite struggling out of the gates against his biggest rivals, Jim Harbaugh is meant to be a college football coach and he is meant to coach the Michigan Wolverines. So, for those of you haters out there who continually speculate that he is leaving for the NFL, go ahead and place your bets that he will leave. But when you lose, just remember, I told you so!
