Let’s face it, 2016 was not the most memorable season for the Detroit Tigers. In fact, other than J.D. Martinez hitting a home run off the first pitch he saw after returning from the disabled list, there was a lot we would rather just forget.
But there was one other moment that still lives on and it did not come from the field but from the press box.
Remember yet? Here’s a hint: Rod Allen.
That’s right, we are referring to that moment in September against the Minnesota Twins when Tigers analyst Rod Allen made a comment that is still heard from time to time.
It happened as Tigers catcher James McCann blasted a home run to give Detroit a 6-0 lead in the sixth inning. Mario Impemba, the Tigers play-by-play man, said, “McCann put a charge into that one and it went a long way, a three-run shot for the Tigers.” Allen followed that up by uttering two words that are now known simply as…
