For years, the Pontiac Silverdome was the home of the Detroit Lions and now it is no more. In December, the Silverdome was imploded and for those of you who have taken the time to drive by, you have probably felt the same funny feeling in your stomach that I have.

Now, just over two months since the initial implosion, the “House that Barry built” is snow covered and looks more like a disaster zone than a former football field. When looking at the video a chilling feeling will come over you.

On Sunday morning, the demolition process for the Pontiac Silverdome was scheduled to begin with a partial implosion.

At 8:30 a.m. the explosions from the Silverdome could be heard many miles away but as you may know by now, the “House that Barry built” was built too strong. In fact, as this is being written, it is still standing.

On August 23, 1975, the Pontiac Silverdome opened its doors for the first time when the Detroit Lions hosted the Kansas City Chiefs in a preseason game. Now we have learned that the former stomping ground for Barry Sanders will be demolished this summer.
