SEATTLE, Washington —

The Tigers offense couldn’t get anything going, and Seattle took advantage of a frustrated Justin Verlander in the 7th inning to take the 3rd and final game of the series today in Seattle by a 2-0 score. Anyone who likes pitching duels must have been in heaven in this series, with just 5 runs being scored in the series’ final 2 games.

After a thrilling 14th inning victory last night, Detroit sent ace Justin Verlander to the mound and he performed just how we expect him to. Verlander gave up  9 hits over 7 innings and allowed 2 runs while striking out 12. He was fantastic for the majority of the day. The problem was that the Seattle pitching was just as good. Mariners starter Hisashi Iwakuma allowed 3 hits over 6 innings to quiet the Detroit bats, while the bullpen held strong.

Justin Verlander moves to 2-2 on the young season, but the Tigers have failed to score a run in both of his losses.

The Tigers will pack their bags for the final leg of this west coast swing when they travel to Southern California to face the Angels. The series begins Friday night, and will feature a pair of day games on Saturday and Sunday (Thank the Lord, I can’t take the late games anymore).

As always, Go Tigers!!
