For the first time since 2011, the Detroit Lions were without the services of quarterback Matthew Stafford. He wasn’t under center for the first time in 136 games as his Lions were felled by the Chicago Bears, dropping their record to 3-5-1 and dealing a massive blow to their already slim playoff chances.
During his Monday press conference, head coach Matt Patricia didn’t give the clearest of updates as to when the team could expect Stafford to return.
“No updates on him,” Patricia said, via video from the team. “Again it is truly day by day, week by week right now as far as he’s concerned. You know he practiced all last week, so we’ll move ahead with kind of a similar plan as we go forward this week.”
Backup quarterback Jeff Driskel completed 27 of 46 passes for 269 yards with one touchdown and one interception while also leading the team in rushing with five carries for 37 yards.
