This past Sunday, the Detroit Lions not only lost what many believed going in was a game they should have won, but they lost in embarrassing fashion to the Carolina Panthers by a score of 20-0.

Not only were the Panthers 3-7 going into the game but they were without Christian McCaffrey, who is arguably the best running back in the NFL, and their starting quarterback, Teddy Bridgewater.
In fact, the Panthers trotted out former XFL QB P.J. Walker to make his first NFL start. As you know by now, Walker did make a couple of big mistakes but he looked much more like a seasoned vet than a rookie.
On Monday, Lions head coach Matt Patricia held his weekly press conference and instead of taking a bunch of questions about Sunday’s loss or his team’s Thanksgiving matchup vs. the Houston Texans, he was bombarded with questions about his job security.

The questions came at Patricia from all angles and not surprisingly, he refused to discuss the subject, saying he was focused on preparing for the Texans.
“I mean, look, our focus right now is on Houston,” Patricia said. “Any conversations that I’ve had with ownership, I always keep those private, you guys know that. So from that standpoint, we’ve just got a quick turnaround here, trying to get ready for Houston.”
When asked about what a fair timetable is to evaluate a coach, Patricia said he did not know and that coaches in the NFL are “critiqued and judged every day.”
“I don’t know (what’s a fair time table),” Patricia said. “I think we just try to go out and work every day. We certainly are, we’re critiqued and judged every day by the job that we’re doing, and we try to improve every day from that standpoint and try to do it better and always try to be the best that we can be. I mean, that’s certainly all that we ask, is that we just go out every day and whether it’s be the best coach or be the best player you can be that day, and try to improve on it the next day.”
