Earlier in the week, the Detroit Lions placed Matthew Stafford on the reserve/COVID-19 list after he came into contact with a person close to his family that had tested positive for the coronavirus.

After quarantining for the required five days, while testing negative for COVID-19 each day, Stafford was eventually removed from the list and cleared to play in Sunday’s game vs. the Minnesota Vikings.
But what most do not know is that Stafford nearly disqualified himself from playing against the Vikings at all.
On Friday morning, the Stafford’s had quite the scare when their daughter Hunter fell out of her high chair and hit her head pretty hard. Kelly Stafford, who has spent the week on her own due to Matthew being in quarantine, ended up calling 9-1-1 when Hunter’s eyes started to roll back in her head.
Following Sunday’s loss to the Vikings, Matthew spoke to the media and though he did not go into great detail, he did say that after Hunter’s spill, there was a point where he was heading back to his home and even called Lions’ GM Bob Quinn to let him know that he was considering breaking quarantine because the situation was pretty serious.
Had Stafford made it all the way back to his home (he had been staying in a hotel), he would have broken quarantine and disqualified himself from being able to play on Sunday.
Thankfully, Hunter ended up being ok (he was diagnosed with a concussion), and Stafford was able to take a private jet to Minnesota, where he eventually suited up and started for the Lions.
