If you happened to follow the 2019 Detroit Lions, you have probably heard that until their matchup vs. the Minnesota Vikings in Week 14, the Lions had the lead in each and every one of their games. Up to that point, the Lions were one of three teams to have the lead in every single game, with the other two teams being the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs.

Despite having the lead in each of their first 12 games, the Lions only managed to go 3-8-1 in those games.
If the Lions are going to make some noise in the NFC North in 2020, they are going to have to figure out a way to finish games when they have the lead.
According to Lions tight end T.J. Hockenson, quarterback Matthew Stafford recently came up with a new phrase in order to put an emphasis on the importance of closing out games when the Lions have the lead.
“Dagger time.”
“We all just want to go out there and win. Try to finish games. We call it dagger time. It’s a little fun,” he said.
