The Detroit Lions were supposed to take the practice field at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, but that did not happen as the team decided to cancel in wake of the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Wisconsin.
According to Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, the team met this morning for four hours and had conversations about the horrific events that continue to take place in the United States.
“Football was the last thing on our minds,” Stafford said. “There’s been a lot of days I’ve been proud to be a Lion and QB in the NFL, but there’s never been a day I’ve been more proud than today.”
Huge props to the Lions for standing up for what they believe in.
