Matthew Stafford fined by NFL, plans to appeal

Thanks to the NFL’s uniform police, Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford will be a little be lighter in the pocket after being fined for wearing blue cleats in Monday’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

According to Josh Katzenstein of the Detroit News, this is Stafford’s first offense and he has been fined $5,787, which the quarterback will appeal.

Stafford claims that he wore the same cleats in the preseason and that Ndamukong Suh and Reggie Bush wore the same cleats last season.

I understand that rules are rules and that ignorance is no excuse, but the NFL is becoming a complete joke when it comes to these types of things.

The Lions just cannot get a break at this point.
