It was exactly one year ago that Matthew Stafford was dealt from the only NFL club that he’d ever suited up for in the Detroit Lions to the sunny shores of Los Angeles to join the Rams. And on the one-year anniversary of the trade that changed the trajectory of both franchises, he’s led his new teammates to the Super Bowl.

The Rams enjoyed a dramatic comeback victory this evening at SoFi Stadium over their in-state rival San Francisco 49ers, earning a 20-17 victory. It’s been a whirlwind last month for Stafford, picking up his first three career playoff victories after a decade in the Motor City. In the win, Stafford completed 31 of 45 passes for 337 yards and two touchdowns.
He and the Rams will play the Cincinnati Bengals two weeks from today at SoFi Stadium, becoming the second straight team in NFL history to play the Super Bowl in their home venue.
