Matthew Stafford restructures contract, saves Detroit Lions $7.8 million in cap space

Prior to the Detroit Lions hosting the Chicago Bears this afternoon, there was a little bit of accounting work done.

According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, quarterback Matthew Stafford re-structured his contract in a manner that saves the team cap space. The $7.8 million will now be spread evenly across the remaining years on his contract.
