The Detroit Lions earned a dramatic come-from-behind victory this afternoon over their division rival Chicago Bears, stunning their hosts late in the 4th quarter with a 34-30 win.
It was the 1st win of the Darrell Bevell era since the dismissal of former coach Matt Patricia last weekend. However, that was hardly the only milestone set during the course of the game.
Lions QB Matthew Stafford continued to climb the NFL record books, tying the legendary John Elway for the 7th most 4th quarter comebacks in NFL history. With 31 of them to his credit, they’re also the most of any NFL quarterback since 2009:
Are the Lions fortunate to have No. 9 under center or what?
Stafford is a team player. Get behind him.
Stafford is the only reason this team has a shot to win games. Don’t think so? Remember last year when he got hurt? How many games did they win? None. Stafford to me is the best pure talented QB in team history. Bobby Layne was great don’t get me wrong, but it was a different era. Zone defenses weren’t even created yet. That happened 20 years latter. Would Layne adjust to them? Unknown. Dutch Clark is the other great QB in this history. Again a different era all together. Are both of them great? Without a doubt. So I do not put Stafford above them. Talent wise yes, but all in all no. Pretty hard to beat Dutch and Layne. They are the greatest.
