Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford famously played football at Highland Park High School in Dallas. Perhaps you heard once, or twice that it is the same high school that Lions great Bobby Layne attended. And perhaps you heard once, or twice, or A THOUSAND TIMES that Stafford’s childhood friend and teammate was Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw.
You may also know that Dallas is in Texas.
Well, someone should tell that to ESPN. They had a story listing the leaders in touchdown passes for active quarterbacks who played their high school football in Texas.
They mentioned Andy Dalton and the fact that he led Katy High in Katy, TX, to the state finals as a senior. They also talked about Andrew Luck, who they mentioned starred at Stratford High in Houston.
Dalton has 142 career touchdown passes. Andrew Luck is not far behind, with 132 career TD tosses.
You know who they didn’t list? I am pretty sure you can guess by now.
Stafford, who has thrown 187 touchdowns in his career. He is the active leader in that category, but somehow ESPN overlooked him.
Well, Kelly Stafford, Matthew’s wife, took to Instagram (and not for the first time this week) with some phone video she recorded to show the story AND get her husband’s reaction. The post has since been deleted, but a clever blogger managed to record it off of someone else’s phone before it vanished:

That looks like a cross between befuddlement and shock!
It is very interesting that on the same day that one national writer says Stafford has the “MVP look,” another outlet leaves him looking like that.
Such is the life and inherent disrespect of being the quarterback of the Detroit Lions.
PCESPN has become irrelevant.
Always under rated, Stafford is a hall of famer stats dont lie.
