The Detroit Lions have every right to feel slighted by the officials in tonight’s game after two soft illegal use of the hands penalties had a direct outcome on the game’s final score.
Green Bay would leave with a come-from-behind 23-22 victory on a last-second Mason Crosby field goal. But it was the events that led to that and the Packers’ previous touchdown to pull them within two points that everyone will be talking about over the next week.
Lions legend Barry Sanders couldn’t keep his thoughts to himself, blasting the officials via Twitter.
Let’s check out what other media members and fans alike are saying.
Nobody:
Absolutely no one:
Not a damn soul:
NFL refs: “Illegal…something. Against the Detroit Lions. The result of the foul is the other team gets to do what it wants until it wins.” pic.twitter.com/2wBq7lQNvG

@NFL Refs who called the @lions @packers game should hang their heads in shame. Not a fan of either team, so I'm impartial, but that was absolutely embarassing. #nfl #DetroitLions #GreenBayPackers

What a bad call. My goodness

Some solid ref crews we probably all took for granted have retired in recent years and it really shows. The #NFL needs to put more resources into making their officiating better.
That blown call in #Packers #Lions changed the game.— Dan Schneier (@DanSchneierNFL) October 15, 2019
That is a horrible, horrible call. Game-changing call. Refs absolutely blew it. Lions legitimately got screwed.

The refs called Trey Flowers for hands to the face twice. Neither were correct.
One gave the Packers a touchdown and the other gave them the game. pic.twitter.com/eGq01y32ra

What am I watching? The refs literally got the same call wrong, Trey Flowers on illegal hands, both times he had it on the shoulder pads. Both decisions were INSANELY costly. One was a sack on 3rd and long. The other to seal the game. This is a disaster. #Lions #Packers

I’m not saying officials cost Lions the game. I’m saying three wrong calls and one obvious missed call in one half is not acceptable. Doesn’t matter who wins the game. https://t.co/cJ5USw5pQS
