We knew that today’s game had the potential to be rough for the Detroit Lions, who are missing several players and most of their coaching staff.
We weren’t expecting it to be this bad, however.
Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers torched the Lions in the 1st half of this afternoon’s game at Ford Field, establishing a franchise record for most points scored in a half. Meanwhile, Brady had a historic half, completing an astounding 22-of-27 passes for 348 yards and four touchdowns.
Meanwhile, on social media, everyone from national commentators to former Lions players to fans collectively reacted as though Santa Claus had taken a shovel to the reindeer stalls to fill up their Christmas stockings.
Take a look at some of the more notable comments:

Of course I want @TomBrady and the @Buccaneers to win, but damn! These @Lions are a disgrace. Clearly, they didn’t come to play at all. Matt Stafford’s career has wasted away being with these guys — even though he’s not playing today. What a nightmare!

So.
Bad.

Legitimately the worst defensive performance I've seen live in an NFL game. Maybe any game.

Patricia and Quinn should be forced to rewatch this game with their eyelids pinned open like in "A Clockwork Orange."

I’m finally coming to terms with the fact that the @Lions aren’t very good at football and I assume plenty of other things. #Lions

BREAKING:
The Detroit Lions can’t get into their locker room for halftime.
Theres an end zone in front of it.
As long as there isn’t an end zone in front of the parking lot they’ve just decided to go home.

The entire nation gets to see what #Lions football looks like without Matthew Stafford at least.

We’d like to thank The @Lions for their participation in today’s game and look forward to seeing them in action in week 17

they stunk up the joint like they have been doing for years! nothing changes in detroit except for new faces which doesn’t change a thing for the lions. they remain hapless losers! they should be embarrassed even to walk out onto the field! same old lions, can’ do anything except to lose!
This was embarrassing they could’ve got a high school team to show more effort. Lions players should all be embarrassed they need to seriously ask themselves is this what you really want to do? As a veteran I hear all this talk about kneeling during the national anthem knowing sacrifices were made for our country and y’all can’t even do your jobs what a garbage team!!
FAKE NEWS on steroids.
The Detroit Lions, under the unmatched, for all time brilliant leadership,of the Ford’s,are in reality,as usual, for the last now almost 70yrs,on the doorstep,of another Super Bowl championship.
Don’t believe the sportscaster.
Don’t believe your ears,eyes.
Don’t trust, that constant pain in your stomach, thats comes on whenever, you turn on the Lions.
Just believe, the news releases like these from your Detroit Lions.
And make sure you keep buying tickets, merchandise.
And always remember and believe that the Ford’s care most about giving you a consistent winning football team.
Go Lions.
They let good players go because they don’t want to pay them what they are worth. Then they get second rate players to fill their spots.
