ESPN’s Mel Kiper has released is NFL Mock Draft 2.o (pay site) and if his calculations are correct, the Detroit Lions will be selecting a position of need in the first round.
According to Kiper, the Lions will use the 16th pick in the first round to draft defensive lineman Jarran Reed out of Alabama. Here is Kiper’s reasoning for the Lions selecting Reed.
“The Lions need to add talent to the interior of the defensive line even if Haloti Ngata returns for another year (or more). Reed isn’t going to get sacks, but he immediately upgrades the run defense and is the kind of player who makes everyone around him better because he’s so hard to move and can occupy blockers.”
What do you think Nation, would drafting Reed in the first round be the right move for the Lions? If not, who do you think the Lions should select with the 16th pick?
