Here we go!
We have all been looking at mock drafts for the past couple of months but the official Mock Draft season is underway as Mel Kiper of ESPN has released his Mock Draft (Version 1.0).
There is plenty of speculation as to what the Detroit Lions will do when they are on the clock with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Some say they will take the top-ranked receiver on the board, some are convinced the Lions will have to take a quarterback to replace Matthew Stafford, and others think that drafting defense is the way to go.
According to Kiper, the Lions will select Ohio State QB Justin Fields with the No. 7 overall pick.
Here is what Kiper has to say about the pick.
Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State
Things change quickly in the NFL. Before the news on Saturday that the Lions were going to trade quarterback Matthew Stafford this offseason, I would have said that they should keep Stafford and try to help him with a wide receiver in this draft. Alabama’s Jaylen Waddle would have fit here. But instead it appears that new general manager Brad Holmes and coach Dan Campbell will go all-in on a rebuild, and so Fields could be the face of it. He had an up-and-down season, but we saw the flashes of his talent, particularly in his six-touchdown performance against Clemson in the College Football Playoff semifinal. Fields has superstar potential, but he’ll need help around him. Detroit will need to figure out what it’s doing with free-agent wideouts Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones Jr. and make sure Fields has a chance to succeed in Year 1.
While browsing Twitter and even Facebook, I have noticed that Fields is a polarizing pick when it comes to Lions’ fans. Some believe that he would be an absolute steal at No. 7 while others (including myself) believe it would be a wasted pick.
What do you think?

The Lions should draft a quarterback, but said quarterback should be Mac Jones out of Alabama.
