Michigan football dismisses Dennis Norfleet

Wide receiver Dennis Norfleet has been dismissed from the Michigan football team for a violation of team rules.

Norfleet, a 5-foot-7, 168-pound senior who stands as Michigan’s all-time leader in kick return yardage, was reported as having skipped more than one of his final exams in April, suggesting the possibility of an academic shortfall.

Nick Baumgardner of reached out to Norfleet’s former high school coach Dale Harvel:

“Evidently he was dismissed from the team, Dennis informed us he was no longer on the team,” Harvel said Tuesday afternoon. “Something about a disciplinary thing between him and coach Harbaugh. Whether it was academics or something internal, I’m not sure. He just said they had a disagreement and he was let go.”

In addition to his on-field versatility, splitting his time as a cornerback, wide receiver, and a punt & kick returner, Norfleet gained notoriety for his pre-snap dancing antics that went semi-viral on YouTube in 2014, garnering over 500,000 views.
