The news was made official this afternoon. The University of Michigan inked head coach Jim Harbaugh to a contract extension that runs through 2025.
This comes on the heels of a disappointing 2-4 shortened campaign in 2020, bringing Harbaugh’s record to 49-22 since returning to the University as head coach in 2015.
And while there’s mixed reaction amongst the fan base, several recruits are letting their voices be heard. And it sure sounds like Michigan’s decision has met with their approval.
“I love it because it’s a commitment to what he is loyal to,” Bolingbrook (Illi.) 2021 three-star linebacker Tyler McLaurin wrote in a message to MLive. “He always preached that he was a ‘Michigan Man,’ and this is his commitment to the scenario. Everyone had their doubts, but he proved to them that he is still true to his heart.”
Take a look at what some other recruits had to say:
“I’m happy for our team and our future,” Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas 2021 four-star linebacker Jaydon Hood wrote to MLive. “I trust him and know that whoever the DC is will be the right fit to continue the legacy and tradition of this great program. I’m doing cartwheels!”
Brentwood (Tenn.) 2021 four-star linebacker Junior Colson: “I am fired up. Everything went smoothly and hearing about our possible new DC, I am excited and can’t wait to meet him.”
Essexville Garber 2022 four-star defensive tackle Alex VanSumeren: “I’m glad the deal is done and that Coach Harbaugh will leading us into the future. Go Blue!”
Wallingford (Conn.) Choate Rosemary Hall three-star offensive tackle Tristan Bounds: “Love it. Can’t wait to play for Coach Harbaugh.”
LET’S GOOOO!!!! 〽️ #GoBlue
