Here at Detroit Sports Nation, we don’t really write about high school football too often, but that does not mean we don’t love some MHSAA Playoff action! On Friday night, the Michigan High School Football Playoffs will continue with the Regional Finals being held for each division. By the time the weekend is over (some games are on Saturday), we will know the Final Four teams in each division that will battle next week for a spot in the State Championship Game at Ford Field.
Which Division 1 teams will win in the Division 1 Michigan High School Football Playoffs?
Without further ado, here are my MHSAA Regional Final predictions for Friday and Saturday!
Region 1 – Grand Ledge vs. Caledonia – at East Kentwood H.S. (Saturday 1:00 p.m)
Both Grand Ledge and Caledonia are coming off one-point upset wins last weekend as GL defeated Holt 21-20, while Caledonia needed double overtime to beat a VERY GOOD Rockford team that many believed would eventually be playing at Ford Field. Both teams are playing with house money at this point but Caledonia may just be the best team in the state, and they are going to take their stack of chips to the semifinals.
Caledonia 28 Grand Ledge 21
Region 2 – Rochester Adams at Clarkston (Friday 7:40 p.m.)
Both Rochester Adams and Clarkston can rack up the points and that’s exactly what they are going to have to do to survive on Friday night. After watching (in person) Adams absolutely destroy West Bloomfield earlier this season, it is VERY tough for me to pick against them. That being said, these same teams played in early September with Clarkston winning by a touchdown. I think tonight’s game will be very similar to that.
Clarkston 34 Rochester Adams 28
Region 3 – Novi Detroit Catholic Central at Belleville (Saturday 1:00 p.m.)
Earlier, I mentioned that Caledonia may be the best team in the state, but you can bet Belleville will have something to say about that. Catholic Central is solid, and they have been more tested, but Belleville has been dominant all year long and they should win this one by 10 or more.
Belleville 42 Novi Catholic Central 27
Region 4 – Detroit Cass Tech at Macomb Dakota (Friday 7:00 p.m.)
Cass Tech opened some eyes up by blowing out West Bloomfield in the pre-district round and some are starting to think they could be a team of destiny. That being said, Dakota is giving up less than a touchdown a game and they have not allowed a team to score at all in about a month. I just don’t think Cass Tech can keep up with Dakota.
Macomb Dakota 27 Detroit Cass Tech 13
