As you have probably heard by now, Wisconsin football is dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak in their program and they have been forced to cancel this Saturday’s game against Purdue. It is the second-straight game the Badgers have had to cancel as they also did not play last Saturday against Nebraska due to COVID-19 protocols.

As of Tuesday, Wisconsin was reporting a total of 27 positive COVID-19 cases, which includes 15 players and 12 staff members. Because of the extremely high number of positive test results, the Badgers have paused all football-related activities until further notice.
Wisconsin’s athletic director Barry Alvarez said he is disappointed but he has not yet had enough confidence to allow normal activities to resume.
“I share in the disappointment of our student-athletes and staff,” athletic director Barry Alvarez said in a release, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “We have seen a level of improvement in our testing numbers, but not enough to give us confidence to resume normal activities and play our game on Saturday.
“We will continue to test regularly, take the proper health-related precautions and look forward to getting our team back on the field as soon as possible.”

The next game on the Badgers schedule just so happens to come on Nov. 14 at Michigan and there is now concern that the game, which is set to be played under the lights, could also be canceled.
If the Badgers are forced to cancel their third-consecutive game, they will be ineligible to play in the Big Ten Championship game as teams must play a minimum of 6 games to be considered.
