Michigan has landed a veteran arm for its quarterback room.
Former Colorado State starter Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi announced Saturday that he has committed to the Wolverines, giving Michigan an experienced and highly capable backup option behind Bryce Underwood for the 2026 season.
The news was first reported by Clayton Sayfie, who noted that Fowler-Nicolosi brings significant game experience after starting 28 games over four seasons with the Rams. The Aledo, Texas native appeared in 31 total games and put together a productive career in Fort Collins.
Fowler-Nicolosi completed 583 of 969 passes (60.2%) for 6,938 yards, 38 touchdowns, and 29 interceptions, operating as a multi-year starter in the Mountain West. His experience and durability stood out, as he consistently handled full-season workloads and led Colorado State’s offense through multiple coaching and scheme changes.
And make no mistake about it: Fowler-Nicolosi is a legit starting QB with serious arm talent. Having him as a backup to Bryce Underwood is a tremendous contingency plan in case of an injury.
For Michigan, the addition is all about stability and upside. With Underwood already solidified as QB1, the Wolverines wanted a proven, mature quarterback who could both push the room in practice and be ready if called upon during the season. Fowler-Nicolosi fits that role perfectly, a quarterback who has seen live bullets, managed games, and can step in without the offense skipping a beat.
