The Michigan State Spartans suffered their first defeat of 2021, dropping a 40-29 decision to the Purdue Boilermakers this past Saturday and falling to 8-1.
However, one of the key elements of the game was Michigan State DT Simeon Barrow’s ejection from the game after he was called for targeting on quarterback Aidan O’Connell. Due to the ejection, he’ll also be forced to miss the first half of this weekend’s tilt against Maryland.
However, don’t expect to see head coach Mel Tucker complain about it. In fact, during his afternoon press conference, he took the high road.
“I don’t like to talk about bad calls,” he said in response to his thoughts on the call. “That’s not part of our culture. We don’t like to make excuses about anything. I think that makes your program soft and gives your players and coaches a way out.”
Before his ejection, Barrow had recorded 26 total tackles (11 solo) with 2.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and one pass deflected.
