With the surreal possibility of major roster turnover after this upcoming season, the Michigan State Spartans are stocking up on players from the Class of 2018.

Already with a top-5 recruiting class in the country, MSU added to it on Monday with the addition of 3-star small forward Aaron Henry (Indianapolis, IN), who verbally committed to the program on Monday.

Henry (6-5, 200 pounds) will become just the latest touted prospect from the state of Indiana to pledge to MSU. The Spartans offered him a scholarship on the first day of August, the last of a slew of scholarship offers for Henry this summer while he played AAU ball.

In fact, Henry’s team was sponsored by former Michigan State standout and 2014 first-round pick Gary Harris, who also hails from Indianapolis. The Ben Davis High School product has been looked at extensively by a number of major programs in the midwest region, including Butler and Xavier.

According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Henry is rated at the No. 6 prospect in the state of Indiana and the No. 36 prospect at the small forward position.

2018 CLASS COUNTER: 5

With the pledge from Henry, Michigan State now has five commits part of their 2018 freshman class, a group that currently ranks No. 4 in the country and No. 2 in the Big Ten to only Indiana. Henry is also the first pledge from outside the state of Michigan and he’s the first to commit since 4-star power forward Marcus Bingham Jr. (Grand Rapids, MI) announced his decision back in late June.

As it stands, Michigan State currently has 14 scholarship players scheduled for the 2018-19 season, one over the NCAA limit. However, the Spartans are losing at least three players to graduation after this year in Ben Carter, Gavin Schilling and Lourawls “Tum Tum” Nairn.

There is also the high likelihood that players Miles Bridges and Nick Ward will be foregoing their remaining college eligibility for the NBA Draft, as well as incoming 5-star freshman Jaren Jackson.
