The Michigan State Spartans suffered their second straight blowout loss this afternoon, getting blanked by Indiana by a 24-0 final score. It marked the first shutout loss at home for Michigan State since 1985.

After finishing 3-for-7 with two interceptions, Spartans quarterback Rocky Lombardi was replaced by Payton Thorne. Afterwards, coach Mel Tucker wouldn’t commit to anyone on the roster having their position guaranteed.
“There’s no position set in stone on this team,” he asserted. “The quarterback position or any other. We are able to evaluate who we have and what they can do, and who wants to or has the ability to play the kind of football we need to play to be successful.”
Thorne finished 10-for-20 with 110 yards.
Meanwhile, turnovers once agains spelled doom for MSU, as Indiana was able to turn their four overall turnovers into 17 points on the board.
“Turnovers and penalties in the first half against any type of team, you don’t give yourself a chance, and that was basically the story of this game,” he said. “We lost the battle of field position.”
“You turn the ball over and committed critical penalties against a good team, you’re going to get beat. We need to figure out what we can do with the guys we have.”
