Justin Verlander sends special message to new Tigers manager A.J. Hinch
The Detroit Tigers made it official this afternoon, agreeing to a multi-year contract with A.J. Hinch to become the team’s new manager.

Hinch, 46, helped guide the Houston Astros to the 2017 World Series, but had been suspended for the 2020 campaign in the wake of the sign stealing scandal that rocked the League.
One member of that team just so happens to be a former ace for the Tigers, and he had a special message for Hinch once the hiring became official.
Justin Verlander, who donned the Old English D for over a decade, sent Hinch a message raving of what the atmosphere is like in the city and Comerica Park when the Tigers are competing.
“He sent me a message this morning raving about what Detroit is like when the team is winning,” Hinch said. “There’s no place like it, he said.”
Of course, Hinch had nothing but good things to say about Verlander.
“JV and I developed a great relationship,” Hinch said. “He’s an all-timer, Hall-of-Famer, incredible competitor.”
During his time with the Tigers, Verlander earned numerous accolades, including the Cy Young Award, MVP and rookie of the year award. He also helped Detroit to five postseason appearances and two World Series.
